Head of the Office of Airworthiness

Our client is an EASA approved Design Organisation (DOA) based in Malta that specializes in offering tailored aircraft modifications and repairs across a wide range of disciplines, including Structural, Electrical, Avionics, ECS, Cabin Safety, and Flight Conditions/Permit to Fly.

Reporting to the Head of Design, the Head of the Office of Airworthiness (HOA) will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the continued compliance with the applicable airworthiness and Design Office standards and procedures.
 
This position plays a key role in interfacing with EASA, leading airworthiness initiatives, and supporting various technical and design processes.
 

Responsibilities:
  • Undertake duties and responsibilities as prescribed in the EASA approved Design Office Handbook 1, section 1.9.6.
  • Serve as the primary interface with the EASA DOA Team Leader, advising on all matters related to airworthiness.
  • Act as the deputy to the Head of Design.
  • Organize and participate in Pre-Design Change Aircraft Surveys.
  • Support the preparation of Commercial Proposals.
  • Act as a technical checker/approver of structural engineering drawings and accomplishment instructions.
  • Liaise with avionics, electrical, mechanical, cabin safety and structures engineering teams to ensure cross-discipline project coordination.
  • Assist in managing projects to agreed schedules and budgets, providing regular updates and reports as required by the Design Office Manager or Managing Director.
  • Act as a Compliance Verification Engineer (Structures) in accordance with DOA HB1 and HB2 terms of reference and procedures.
  • Assist in role development for Structures Design Engineer.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • University Aeronautical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in airworthiness, design compliance, and aircraft modifications/repairs.
  • In-depth knowledge of EASA regulations and DOA procedures.
  • Strong technical background in avionics, electrical, and mechanical engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in managing projects and coordinating cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Preferably must have already held the position of Head of Office of Airworthiness with another EASA approved DOA.
